Industrial warehouse in Mannheim

BlueSpine is involved in the refurbishment of a former industrial warehouse in Mannheim, Germany. The warehouse’s foundation slab is severely affected by corrosion and is now being treated with impressed current cathodic protection.

The structure: The structure is an old industrial warehouse belonging to the company Elis, located in Mannheim, Germany. The floor slab was heavily exposed to chlorides due to the activities carried out inside the facility.

Scope of work: Design and sizing of cathodic protection | Manufacturing and supply of equipment | Construction supervision | Performance monitoring

Project stakeholders:

Client: Elis

Contractor: ITS Travaux Spéciaux

Our intervention:

BlueSpine was commissioned for a full project covering the implementation of an impressed current cathodic protection system on the structure of the former Elis industrial warehouse in Mannheim, Germany.

The structural diagnosis revealed severe chloride contamination due to the activities carried out inside the building. As the contamination was not caused by exposure to an aggressive external environment, the structure was not designed for the corresponding exposure class, allowing chlorides to reach the reinforcement.

Starting with the recommendation of the most suitable treatment system, BlueSpine carried out the design and sizing of the installation. We then supplied all the equipment required for system implementation:

Q-Box developed by BlueSpine: installation control throughout the construction phase, ensuring complete site security.

BSCP-100 controller developed by BlueSpine:

🔹 Automated and remote monitoring of the installation

🔹 Intelligent current regulation

🔹 Automatic generation of compliance reports for long-term monitoring

MMO titanium anode system: ensuring efficient current distribution and a service life exceeding 50 years.

Integrated sensors: real-time measurement of corrosion potential, temperature, and humidity, enabling continuous performance assessment of the protection system.
